Writing Dice
I picked these up online and they are a wonderful tool to force myself out of my comfort zone. The idea is to roll the dice for the parameters I must work within. My job then is to create a story from that wildly random set of criteria. Below are the better of the stories that have come from this little writing exercise. I will put the criteria at the beginning of each one.
Typewriter Series
I learned to type at an early age on a small manual typewriter, long before I took an official typing class in high school. Much to the annoyance of my teacher at the time, I had already established habits which produced much faster results than the rigid methods they were so determined that I should adhere to. In order to live up to the title of "Old world writer" I felt I must present some written works in this rather nostalgic format.
Ode by Arthur O'Shaughnessy
This poem is not of my creation, but it has always inspired me. In this world saturated with information, it's easy to forget that with every word of our mouths (or fingers) we are creating a future world.
What will that world look like?
And what will your contribution be?
